Essential Functions Edit technically accurate and aesthetically compelling video across all of NBC Connecticut’s platforms, including but not limited to broadcast, mobile and web
Edit stories for the newscasts on a daily basis using desktop computer non-linear editing programs
Edit original videos for digital and social media platforms
Develop graphic elements and treatments for digital videos, investigative broadcast stories and features
Communicate with show producers, management, assignment desk and reporters on delivering the best video
Coordinate editing duties with photographers and other editors
Responsible for archiving video and help maintain archive system
Provide troubleshooting assistance of NLE system
Work with other journalists on enterprising stories and train other editors on editing techniques
Understand and practice ethical journalism and meet NBC news standards
Participate in station-sponsored events and all assigned special projects.
Basic Qualifications Minimum of 3 years’ experience editing for live news broadcast
Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating non-linear equipment
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in television broadcasting

Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights and to return to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage.
Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift
Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT.
Must be a member or be willing to become a member of the IBEW union.
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.
Experience editing in Adobe Premiere, After-Effects and Photoshop
Familiarity with social media platforms
Willing to try new things and be comfortable working on an in-depth investigation of nuclear waste or the quirky viral talker story of the day.
Knowledge of digital workflows- Video on Demand Server (VOD), File Transport Protocol (FTP), and codecs
College or vocational school education in broadcast communications, journalism or photography preferred
Familiarity with non-linear desktop editing programs such as Grass Valley Edius
Team player with a positive attitude
Motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction
Positive work ethic with ability to work under time specific deadlines
High degree of integrity and professionalism
Up to date on and interested in current news events
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work well and communicate with others
