The Senior Designer-Programmer is responsible for helping our Creative team generate, articulate and prove-out a variety of different potential game concepts. Your focus is to collaborate with the art and design team to create compelling game prototypes, visualizations, pitches, and internal presentations, as well as provide technical design guidance for existing products and external partners. You will play a key role in creating gameplay prototypes for both new innovative games as well as potential features in existing products. This role reports to the Director, Game Design in Universal’s Games and Digital Platforms group.
The ideal candidate has very strong high-level game design skills paired with the technical programming ability to quickly develop prototypes that help evaluate new game ideas early. Strong communication skills are a must as collaborating with the rest of the creative team, as well as executive stakeholders is needed for success.Essential Responsibilities:
- Take ownership over creating new gameplay prototypes that help ascertain the potential of new innovative game concepts
- Participate in creative team brainstorms and new concept pitch development
- Participate in progress feedback sessions for existing projects
- Provide technical design feedback and guidance to external development partners, including occasional on-site visits where warranted
Basic Qualifications:5+ years of experience in game design and gameplay programming on commercial products
Flexibility to create prototypes in a wide range of platforms and game genres
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Enjoy a collaborative, iterative work environment with other creative
